Mozart’s breath taking Mass is the climax of this concert. A piece which shows the influence of earlier composers such as Bach and Handel, it is nonetheless unmistakably Mozart, drawing on his dramatic flair seen more often on the operatic stage and his skilful marriage of words and music.
Also on the programme is Haydn’s Insane and stupid worries flood our mind, a dramatic and incisive start to the evening, plus Thine be the Glory, perhaps better known now as a hymn.
The dynamic and brilliant La Nuova Musica bring this all to life in the surrounds of the Sheldonian Theatre.
