Opus 48 - Mozart Requiem & Gjeilo Sunrise Mass

event poster describing the ensemble and music being played

Surely in everyone’s ‘Top ten’ favourite works for choir, Mozart’s Requiem, his last work, famously left incomplete, needs to be heard performed by the best choirs and orchestras reasonably regularly. This is what Opus 48, music director David Crown, and the wonderful instrumentalists of The Musical and Amicable Society will bring you. Joined by a starry line-up of some of the best young singers, the evening promises to be extremely special.

The companion piece is from the hugely talented and deservedly popular Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo. His Sunrise Mass is rightly finding its place in the choral pantheon with its searing emotional intensity and delightful lighter touches. An unforgettable evening is promised. Early booking advised!

Opus 48 – named in honour of Fauré’s Requiem – is an exciting medium-sized choral society in Oxfordshire, performing an impressive range of repertoire to the very highest standard. Opus 48 rehearse and perform under the baton of Musical Director, David Crown, one of the leading choral conductors in the UK.
