The Oxford Festival Orchestra plays Bruckner 5

bruckner

Join Felix Kirkby and the Oxford Festival Orchestra For the first ever Oxbridge student performance of a Bruckner symphony.

It isn’t hard to see why Anton Bruckner promised himself he’d ‘never write another symphony like the Fifth.’ On the one hand, the piece’s themes are meticulously ‘worked out’ (turned upside down, back-to-front, and eventually brought into conversation with each other). But, on the other, it represents a searing emotional journey from wandering and alienation to the composer’s final, transcendent vision of the ‘Church of Faith’.

Felix is a third-year undergraduate at Christ Church College who founded (and currently conducts) the OFO. All ticket profits will be donated to the DYMA, a charitable foundation (of which Felix is also Creative Director) that distributes grants and scholarships to talented but underprivileged young musicians.

Your time, your presence, and your donations toward this good cause are all enormously appreciated.
