Oxford Millennium Orchestra - Romeo and Juliet Suite 2 Prokofiev, Ballade Coleridge-Taylor, Firebird Suite Stravinsky
Friday 28 November, 19:30
Sheldonian Theatre
Join Oxford Millennium Orchestra for a concert of fire, fury, and fantasy. Two iconic 20th-century ballets bookend the concert: Stravinsky's eternal 'Firebird' and Prokofiev's electric 'Romeo and Juliet'. Two pieces that challenged ballet forever, two pieces that shook the world. In a colouristic, climax-filled celebration, Coleridge-Taylor's 'Ballade' forms the centrepiece of a cataclysmic concert. Energy, excitement, and eccentricity define all three pieces: come for a night of emotionally-charged euphoria, celebrating a trinity of pieces that will live for eternity.
Oxford Millennium Orchestra are an ambitious and exciting large-scale Symphony Orchestra, with recent critically-acclaimed performances of Mahler 7, Shostakovich 5, and Berlioz's ‘Symphonie Fantastique’. Praised by ‘Seen and Heard International’ for their 'thrilling' sound, the orchestra specialise in large-scale and daring performances.
