In the opening Oakeshott Lecture of 2026, distinguished political scientist Bjørn Lomborg will explain how to make the world better and tackle major global issues relating to the climate and poverty. At the conclusion of his lecture, Lomborg will be joined on stage by eminent podcaster, Winston Marshall, for a public conversation.
Bjørn Lomborg is an eminent political scientist with a PhD from the University of Copenhagen. He formerly ran the Environmental Assessment Institute and is now President of the Copenhagen Consensus Center, a think tank focussing on economic research and solutions to major global problems. Lomborg has authored and edited many books on environmentalism and poverty, including The Skeptical Environmentalist: Measuring the Real State of the World (2001) and, most recently, Best Things First: The 12 Most Efficient Solutions for the World's Poorest and Our Global SDG Promises (2023).
Winston Marshall is the host of The Winston Marshall Show on YouTube and a distinguished musician, founder, writer, and interviewer.
